My dear Mr Osborn
Nothing could be kinder [on your part] than the invitation [in the way of a pleasure trip] [you sent [ ] us] [& nothing more delightful to us than to] to delightful [wing] [on] [wing]. & how gladly we would accept you know [did] But grim duty like the Bunyans. [Apollyon] is now straddling across the whole [breadth] of the way crying, no [in the way of a pleasure [ ]] could be more delightful than the visit you so kindly invite us to. But alas it’s all work & no play with us these days. Wanda is at school in Berkeley working hard expecting to enter the state university next yr [year] & I am smothered in writing, without accomplishing much.
I never shall forget the [leafy] [Hudson] hills in their glorious green & yellow & red & [gray] the wing on wing room you so kindly call mine & the lovely peaceful restful time I enjoyed [ ] there when I was worn & weary. Of the many Muir rooms called mine illustrating the abounding benevolence [benignity] of
