Martinez, Jan, 28, '05,
Mr, Andrew McLenman,
Newhall,
Dowanhill Gardens,
Glasgow, Scotland.
Dear Mr. McLennan.
A guid bag of plum pudding, or I suppose what in Scotland would bo oalled an English haggis, came safely and was greatly enjoyed by all the familyi?) Like the short-bread of last year it brought back our pleasant journeys together in China and Japan with wonderful clearness.
I have little faith in the promise of the professor about your degree, and so 1 think I had better oonfer one upon you myself. Here it is - E.F.F., Ever Faithful Friend.
With hearty wishes for a happy New Year,
Faithfully yours,
[John Muir]
