[First draft of letter, in note-book] Martinez, March 6, '05. Miss Gertrude F. Trego, Platteville, Wis. Dear Madam: I inclose with this a list of my writings, up to 1897, and a short biographical sketch, which will probably be about what you want. Longer biographical sketches have been published in several magazines - Ainslee's April, 1901, Self Culture May, 1899, Outlook, June 3, 1903, the Century, and other magazines. I have no copy of "Pic[turesque] Cal[ifornia]" As far as I know it is out of print. The firm to which the copy belonged failed 8 or 10 years ago. It is a large profusely illustrated book, at first sold at 30 dollars a copy. I don't know where a copy can now be obtained. With best wishes, Faithfully yours, [John Muir]
