[First draft of letter, in note-book]
Martinez, Jan, 28, '05,
Mr, C.E. Liddell,
Care D.S. McPhail & Son,
231 Flinders Lane,
Melborne, Australla.
Dear Mr. Liddell and Willie*:
Your photographs came a day or two ago, and I was perfectly delighted to get them. They brought into view with magic clearness our big pleasant trip together In Australia and New Zealand. Here is my best photograph, which perhaps you will mistake for that of one of the Katoomba natives. I am looking forward with great pleasure to your visit to our California home. When are you coming? Write and tell me how you are getting along. I am hard at work on Yosemite matters and another book.
Remember me to the McPhails. With many pleasant remembrances,
Faithfully yours,
[John Muir]
