Bancroft LibraryMartinez, cal. July 7, 1897My dear Mr Kip.I thank you for kindly letting me know your summer [trail?] I am going to join Prof. Sargent of Cambridge in a tramp through the Rockies in British Columbia to study Picea this summer. I shall probably leave home about the first of August & may miss you, still it is possible I may have the pleasure of seeing you at the Palace Hotel S.F. on the 3d. & I may even meet you somewhere on the Great Northern R.R. Anyhow you will hear from me.I have a sister here from the east who wants to go to Yosemite. Have you any ladies with you? If so, I would be glad to have you take her in charge.
