Abstract

Colleges are complex and often their own employees—let alone students—struggle to understand how each part relates to the other. As a former Student Success Coach, part of my job was to help students, staff, and faculty navigate that web of institutional processes and policies to make sure students got the care and support they needed. As a researcher who explores how structures support or hinder student success, working as a Student Success Coach was the best on-the-job training I could have had.
