Abstract
Assessment, at its core, is the process of determining whether students learn the material that we are trying to teach. In the dictionary, program assessment is the method of gathering, analyzing, and using other information to determine the program's outcomes to improve students' learning. In reality, assessment involves so much more than collecting and collating numbers. As teachers, we naturally do many things closer to the heart of assessment than gathering and reporting numbers to accreditors. Whether we realize it or not, assessment is at the heart of everything we do.
