Abstract

St. Mary's Community Services offers pathways out of homelessness and poverty by offering essential daily services and supportive programs. As part of the University of the Pacific’s College Corps program, we focused on community outreach and awareness by creating short one minute introductory videos for all the departments in St Mary’s Community Services. Recognizing the importance of accessible information, we created twelve one-minute videos about each department to be widely distributed across social media platforms. This initiative was aimed to provide easy and effective ways for individuals to learn about available resources and how to effectively utilize them. We saw success through communication with the volunteer coordinator and staff at St Mary’s Community Services, who helped identify and correct outdated information. By simplifying what each department offers and their operating hours, the project successfully reduced confusion and improved the accessibility of essential services for its target audience.
