Abstract/Artist Statement

The University of the Pacific, founded in 1851, prides itself on creating an environment to help all their students succeed. President Callahan has expressed interest in encouraging more students to attend sporting events. However, many Pacific students are unaware of the location of athletic facilities on campus because of the lack of connectivity from classrooms to athletic facilities. LBJ2 Incorporated will create Prowl Park to integrate student life with the university's athletics department and address other needs on campus. The project is to include the following site improvements: a 50 x 30-foot timber refreshment stand, a 40 x 30-foot timber pavilion structure, a tiger paw print shaped pond, and a new site layout with drainage features.

The refreshment stand will serve as a permanent location for food vendors on the south side of campus. It will include two restrooms and an outdoor patio area. The pavilion will include a stage and performing area to serve as a permanent location for student life recreational events. The pavilion will have a screen to project away games and serve as a new tailgate area. The pond will improve the aesthetics of the park and attract more students to the area. Drainage issues in the area will be addressed with the addition of low-impact development features.

Prowl Park is designed to bolster student support for athletics and improve the student community on campus. LBJ2Incorporated is confident that Prowl Park will create a positive impact on student athletics at University of the Pacific.
