Abstract/Artist Statement
This poster explores the positive effect that community events have on their organizers and supporters. Through the College Corps fellowship, nearly one hundred University of the Pacific students got the opportunity to work with service sites throughout Stockton to benefit the community. Many fellows have participated in community events to bring people together.
These events benefit the community they serve, but this fellowship is an opportunity to examine their positive effects on organizers and participants. Evidence from a research journal, personal accounts from College Corps fellows and a site supervisor at Public Health Advocates, and photos of the process taken to create signage for a Public Health Advocates event have been compiled on this poster. This project focuses on the inner workings of community events and encourages more people to get involved.
