Abstract/Artist Statement

The Love is Love book was created to discuss microaggressions within the LBGT+ community. Each page is created with a different color base of the Gay pride flag and talks about microaggressions or assumptions. All of the LBGT+ couples are shown in a domestic setting due to the assumption that came from the AIDs epidemic, that people who are LBGT+ are inherently sexual. This book shows the other side of that. That people in the LBGT+ community are the same as anyone else. It’s important to address what everyday homophobia looks like and why it has been systematically placed in our community for so long. We’ve made great progress however more steps need to be taken. I hope this small book not only educates people but also brings a sense of comfort to people who are LBGT+ by illustrating people in love at peace with their lives for being themselves.
