Abstract/Artist Statement

SUPERNINJAPLATFORMER.JPG is a side-scrolling platformer game developed for the PC platform. The character is controlled through various keys on the keyboard. The goal of the game is to reach the end of each level. The player can accomplish this by running through the level, jumping over pitfalls, sliding to get into tight spots, and other such maneuvers. The levels will allow for some free-roaming from the player so that they can choose whichever route they please to finish the level. There are platforming puzzles built into the levels that the player will need to solve in order to progress through the level. There is also a scoring system that will record the player's score. Artifacts that play a role in the player's score are collectable mushrooms laid throughout the levels, the amount of time it takes the player to finish the level, and how many extra lives the player has after finishing the game. The story of SUPERNINJAPLATFORMER.JPG begins in a cyberpunk setting where politics are corrupt, and there are no rules. A corrupt group called the Splicers is splicing human and dinosaur DNA. While this is okay in their city, their methods of obtaining the dinosaur DNA is suspicious. The player plays as Haruka, a ninja photographer sent to uncover the truth about the Splicers' methods of getting dinosaur DNA. She finds out that the Splicers are going back in time using a time ring to get the DNA. After taking incriminating photos, Haruka escapes through a vent and finds a prototype time ring. The game starts after the prototype ring malfunctions, and Haruka is sent to the Mesozoic Era, trying to find her way back to her time.
