John Muir Esq

Dear sir.

Excuse the liberty I take in writing to you, a stranger, but I would like to get your photograph to add to my collection of my friends Prof Wallace, Lubbock, Hall, Cape, Le Conte, Wright, [illegible], Dana, Gilbert, Newberry, Agassiz, A. Agassiz, Marlow and others.
I once resided in California, at Berkeley, and was on the Geological Survey of California under Prof Whitney besides being interested in glacial geology and in the Diatomacea.

Respectfully yours

Prof. Arthur M. Edwards M. D.
