Dear Mr. Muir:

Remittance received. Many thanks. Trust and think you will find the pamphlets all right.
I am delighted to hear that you are at work on a book. If not preseumption on my part I would be glad to know what it is to be and who puts it out (I do not mean extinguishes it--that would be an impossibility once it is "out") When you have it finished and want to try the effect of it upon the public, let me know and i will be glad to come up and pass the verdict of 1 / 60,000,000 of the great American public (not

"mostly fools" as Carlyle was alleged to have said), and I am sure that the verdict will be enthusiastic approval. It has seemed strange to me that the Century people with their evident appreciation of your genius, have not heretofor persuaded you to a compilation and publication in book form of one or several volumes made up from your magazine articles and newspaper letters. These are at present sealed to the public. With the aid of the list imprinted I can get at your magazine in articles which I do not have in the bound volumes in the Free Library, but the long list of Bulletin letters are inaccessible.

With regards to Mrs. Muir and the children, I am as ever

Your enthusiastic admirer
