Dear Mr. Muir:-

Your letter of the 9th is received, and we are glad to know that you are getting on so well with the book. Our idea would be to make a volume of a moderate size, to sell at somewhere from $l.00 to $l.50, and the number of words you mention, a hundred thousand to a hundred and thirty thousand, will be ample. Indeed, for a book of this size, other things being equal, we can make a handsomer and more readable looking volume with the smaller number of words than the larger.
The question of illustration we can settle after we get the text, but you are right in supposing that many of our pictures can be cut down or otherwise reduced to a size suitable for the book page.
It will not be at all necessary for you to think of coming on here as we can easily send the proofs to you during some stage before the book is finally published, especially, if we receive copy so as to begin setting up within the next two months. Believe me

Very truly yours
Frank H. Scott
