Monday Aug 10, 1914Darling Helen I'm so glad you all keeping so well. It has been quite cool last week & I hope the most trying temperatures are about over for the year.I sent Dr Cole a box of peaches Saturday, the last of the season Many of the trees died from lack of cultivation while I was away. The Bartlets will soon be ripe & I will see that you get some from Tom.I had a charming invitation from Mrs Harriman to spend a week or two or three at her beautiful Island Park home in Idaho where I was last year But had to reply I was not able to travel so far though I keep travelling farther with my pen in spite of weak legs.Ever your devoted father & loverJohn Muir
