[ca 25 May 1914][letterhead] MondayMy dear Mr. Muir:As I phoned Mr. Hanna, our good friend is gone - and it was better so - for he never could have recovered [&?] to a man as vigorous as he was - invalidism would have been a terrible existence & he & Marion would have suffered continually. As it was - his last days were very hard on her, poor girl! She has stood the strain very bravely though & I hope will not break down now that it is all over.You can help her very materially, I think, to bear her sorrow by coming down & paying her a visit — bringing down some of your Alaska work - It will take her mind off of her loss and I know she thinks the world of your (as we all do). She cannot very well go up to Martinez for there are many business matters she will have to attend to during the next months or I would suggest her going up there.With all good wishesSincerely Mm E Colby05752
