[1]Pacific Grove, Calif.May 3rd 1912My dear brother John:I have just heard this morning that you are now in the Valley, and I am wondering if it will be possible for you to come and make us a visit here before you go farther away again. You know how glad we will be to see you and to hear you tell us of some of the wonders you have seen on your long journey. How eagerly we have watched for any notice of your whereabouts during05187

[2]your long absence, and of your success in discovering the three varieties of trees which you were so anxiously looking for, made us glad also. This morning I see a notice of your new book "The Yosemite," which I suppose will soon be published. Along with the notice there is a good picture of yourself.Wanda will now be at home and you will have still another grandson to welcome.I hope you found Helen well when you were with her, I have written but have not heard from her since she went to Hollywood, but heard of her by Wanda,[3]I had letters from Mary some time ago and all were well. She made a long visit with friends in Cleveland, Ohio, last summer and came home feeling better. Joanna went to Kearney to visit with her later. We also have heard from Joanna quite lately also from Dan. The past winter in Neb. has been very severe making it very trying for them all, especially Bernice who cannot endure either either the extreme heat or cold.I had a few lines from Maggie Lunam in the winter05187

[4]her mother keeps well considering her age, but her daughter has to write for her now.We here are all usually well. I saw David and Ette this morning Kenneth is still at Los Angeles, busy in school, and on the farm. We expect him home for the vacation. Marjorie is just as busy at home with her studies and other work, but you will see us all when you come.I suppose John Reid and Jessie will either have started on their trip or will soon.Affectionately yourSister Sarah.
