1919 SIXTEENTH STREET WASHINGTON, D.C.May 9, 1911.Darling Helen:Delighted to get your letter telling that you are all prospering and that the little son is becoming more and more interesting and handsome as he grows older, and that he is so very fat now that he has a perfectly good double chin and cheeks like ripe peaches, the pink kind.As for the business part of your letter, I turned over all that Valona business to Buel. As I have not a map I can't tell the value of the lots contained in Mr. Francis Greorge's letter. But tell Buel to consult the list I gave him, and that he might be perfectly safe in cutting down from that list at least 25%. $800 for the lots high up on the hills may perhaps be about all they are worth, but tell Buel to use his own judgment in the matter. I don't think that the two lots on which the Catholic Church stood reverted to us. Anyhow, if the Church claims them we will have to let them keep them. I expect to be here till the end of the week when I shall return to New York.Wish all good wishes.Your devoted father,John Muir
