Original in possession of Mr. Henry G. Bryant, Philadelphia, Pa.Martinez, Cal.December 15, 1909.Dear Mr. Bryant:-I am very sorry to say that I will not be present at the Boston meeting of the Club Dec. 30th. I have long wished to meet my fellow mountaineers of the American Alpine Club, but every way thus far has been closed against me.The Sierra Club expects a hot fight in Congress this winter on the Hetch Hetchy valley question, and we rely on the Alpine Club for great able help. With all good wishes for a happy and in every way successful meeting,I am, ever faithfully yours,John Muir.04652
