Arriving at the house an hour later I was greeted by you in another form — Stickeen and its charming inscription. You were so good to remember me and my appreciation is forever yours as is my sincere affection.04465 Ive a book I had sent to me today I found the following foreword of John Burroughs:-"When we see animals going about, living their lives in many ways as we live ours, [doing?] [illegible]ing, courage fear, joy, anger, grief etc etc. ([drinking milk?]) I say, what more natural than that we should ascribe to them powers akin to our own.and look upon them as [their?] king, reasoning and reflecting."By this he does not mean [instinct?] do you think?
