[in margin: Stickeen]Farmington Conn.Apr. 7th,[letterhead]Dear Mr John MuirI have just finished "Stickeen" and I cannot help thanking you for it.I am an animal lover - and my heart is tortured with their undeserved miseries - especially thru' the cruelties of vivisection - I wish we could have the laws exempt dogs always - they are so wonderfully human - [illegible] what is the ideal human - in love faithfulness & devotion - and they have added to their suffering04478 a wonderful sense of apprehension. I am sure you must have seen it many times.I wish you would lend the influence of your name to our efforts in memory of clear little Stickeen - will you?Yours most sincerely(Mrs S. E.) Frances C.
