I have put [Juek's?] girdle round the globe for I was here in ’68. Your wife’s letter to mine greeted. — Am now sorry I did not go to Martinez — I was in a hurry. Gave 50 days each to Japan China & India. — Steamed 1400 [ms?] on Yang-Tse, “Thus far into the bowels of the land”. The continents are disparates not comparates I thank God for actual vision of all. — O how small my cup – how great the view! Why have I this golden chance denied to those who deserve it more. – My wife and girls winter in Thomasville, [Ga?]. My regrets are two 1. that I did not travel sooner 2. that neither of my girls is a partaker of my happiness
