My dear Mr Muir.
My dear Sister, Mrs Bidwell, has desired me to write you her appreciation of the kind letters she has received from you, and say that she sincerely hopes you will be able to come to Chico, in the near future, and have accompany you any members of your family who would find it agreeable to come - That she hopes to be able to write you herself some time. husband and little son, reached this saddened home on the 10th of this month. Dear General was laid to rest the following day. Annie has borne this dreadful sorrow with a Christian resignation which I have never seen approached. The lines of grief were etched deep in her face, but not a murmur has escaped her - and her faith

still keeps her up. I was very anxious for many days feeling that collapse must come - now I feel that one will not, and through the sorrow now and then catch a glimpse of the sweet Sister as I have known her always in other days. To her have been sent the loveliest tributes of respect and love for General, and his death and funeral seemed more a triumph than aught else. We will remain with my Sister I think through
