[David Kluig]

Martinez, Feb. 18th, [1905]

Dear Mr, Kling:

I have long been wondering what had become of you, and was of course very glad to get your letter and to know that you are still wise enough to fly south before you are frozen by the N.Y. weather. I should be delighted to be your companion again, but 1 have to stick to my desk until 1 get another book off my hands. All the memories of the long trips we made together are delightful. I had several letters from our charming fellow travelers Liddell and Willie, and last Christmas they sent me their photos.
Long ago I sent copies of my books to Mr. Husted, but have not yet had a word from him, though I had a letter from his relative, Mrs. E. LeGrand Beers. Mrs. Beers and her companions, I heard, were spending the winter in Italy. Mr. Husted was one of the kindest and most delightful of my fellow travelers, and when you see him give him my warmest regards.
From Sidney I went home by Port Darwin, Timore, Manila, Hong Kong, and Yokohama. When you fly from N.Y. winter, come to California.
With best wishes from all the family,

Faithfully,

[John Muir]
