Dear Mr. Muir:-
Mr. Burroughs, who is at my elbow, says to give you his love and say that he will match grapes with you any day. He says that when he goes West he will fill his pockets with his finest specimens. He also says, that if you two do not meet in this world, you will be sure to meet in the next by sheer force of elective affinity.
Noble's forest reservation policy is getting considerable attention in the press. "The Post" and "Times" have been particularly cordial, and I have also had "The Times"' and "Sun" attack the Camminetti Bill, and have written to the members of the Public Lands Committees of the House and Senate to stave it off. I am also sending to them copies of the inclosed report, which I send today to some of our California friends.
Yours ever
R. U. Johnson.
