My dear Mr Johnson.

I think you are right in cutting short the introductory part of Stickun. & I acknowledge your part interest in the [pup?], as I would never have written the story had you not urged me to do so.
I hope howver that in striking for artistic effect you will not blur the story. The narrative should I think be kept whole. Anyhow be sure to leave the legs of the article long enough to distinctly reach the ground. This Stickun story easily told has cost me more time & work than anything else I ever wrote. I'll watch your forest editorial for I know it will be good. I'm going to join Sargent at Bamf in the Canadian Pacific Aug 5. Cant you come We will make you wise in trees, & perhaps take you to Alaska.

Ever Cordially Yours

John Muir
