My dear Mr. Muir,

I have undertaken a rash thing: no less than the furnishing to our University Magazine a bibliography of your publications to make part of a "Muir number" to come out in November or December. I have, of course, access to what has been printed on the subject in the Overland; but I do not know without some guidance from you whether those compilers really covered all the ground up to that date, nor how I shall make sure that I get all you have published since then. Have you a scrap-book or file of your own which I could consult, or other memoranda? I am not looking for you to do my work. only such help as will make my work complete. Kindly
