Dear John
This being your birthday, I greet you with kindest heartfelt wishes for your present and future good_I trust your health is much improved, also that the health of your family is good
It is very gratifing to know that Annies health has improved so much since her arrival in California_
There has been a very great deal of sickness here for some weeks_one of the schools have been closed for some time on account of scarlet fever and many
children have died_
Last Sabbath David made us his usual visit but I think his home must be quite lonesome at present as Annie has gone to Drummond for a four days visit to Carrie but he says they get along very well.
We are hoping to have a visit from Maggie this summer. I hope we will not be disapointed also one from Joanna
With kind regards to all the family.
I am affectionately Mother
