Leaving higher uses out of the [forest] to the dwellers of the plain the big tree [every Seq] is a tree of life a never failing spring sending living water to the lowlands [thirsty crops] all through the hot rainless summer. No wonder the that [now its [usefulness] is felt] the cry “Save the trees” becomes [is heard] louder [& louder] [every passing] each year. Since this open secret Californians have found and been learned that for every grove cut down a stream is dried up.
All California is crying Save the trees. Nor is it likely that the cry will cease until the [ ] of all [that is] left of Sequoia Gigantea
The value of these forests Sequoia Woods in storing and [disbursing] the bounty of the mountain clouds is now well known to the lowland farmer [ ] on irrigation water
