My dear Mr [Rodgers],

I hope [sometime to have] to have the great pleasure of a trip with you [among] the [150] & 200 ft [foot] Texas & southern burr oak prairies. That you will take me & I’ll go. I know that I have not [seen] the grandest oaks from what Sargent told me & I [am] am very glad to get your notes on these trees. I think the tallest oaks I ever saw were [Michauxii] in Alabama near Tuscaloosa. I don’t think you have [not] seen our grandest live oaks. The rugged strength of them far far-reaching arms [is perfectly sublime.]
