are lovely in color yellow with sedge & brown with patches of ferns. The exquisitely distributed groves of erect tapered pines with their shadows produce a charming effect, Light & shade among the rocks, the sun glowing on smooth bosses.
The winds sing on among the pines & firs
Jays scream lustily, the snow is melting into music. Scarce any frost at night
Little mouse-like wrens, chickadees in considerable numbers
Like all the fields of God whether reposing in the garments of winter or of summer it is a song of gentleness & love.
Clouds Rest in nearly solid white.
Tissiack is white on crown & white-streaked & dusted in her many folds of rock clothing
Starr King has a dense black forest of fir sweeping up his slopes from the north
Top of Cone is white on the N. [north] Gray on the S. [south]
Shadows from Glacier Point as a centre sweep up the valley shearing off the glow from river & meadow, making eclipse

On top of Eagle Point counted 38 strata in the granite which measured in the aggregate only 4½ inches
2/3 of Nevada Fall seen from here & 1/5 of Yosemite Fall
Coast Range quite distinct, dull blue in color
Magnificent shadow cast by Gl. Pt. [Glacier Point] & Sentinel nearly across the valley to within 200 or 300 yds [yards] of the foot of the N. [north] wall at one O’Clock P.M.
