The storm, all the mtn [mountains] even the Sierra bare & dry oft-wished to see it in winter snows
On morn [morning] of 24th solid bank of dark cld [clouds] lay along on top the Inyo sometimes lifted slightly then settled heavily with long fringes that reached nearly to the plain The Sierra pks [peaks] muffled at top [sun] filled all the open long valley & at times seemed to melt the [while] muffles from the high mtns [mountains], but

these formed again & again & off sent away large cloudbergs off into the open sea of plain
About noon a [bridge] of clds [clouds] spanned the val [valley] from side to side & sent long softly curved tress of storm. [Snow] the storm moved southward repeatedly & as oft driven back at length the wind that belonged to the storm prevailed & a steady flow of flake came from the N
