May see upheavel of Mtn ranges of clouds W. is some white ground for [ ] trees S. is cove of King & all [his] cove attend, E. is Lyell etc & the near Clark group Tuesday, January 9, 1872 Mtn pine can grow on granite like Yel There are two large rose colored granite Boulders from Clark on edge of lit Yo [Little Yosemite] a few hund yrds E of Luk St [Starr] King. wh give distinct indication of course of ice largest [b] is 15 ft long. glaciers died slowly here turning over domes - [densing] into [hollows]
