J B [John Burroughs] my [Joe] Whether with heart or herring roe You bait your hook Don’t bait your hook at all my [foe] Seek elsewhere food & joy When fishes bite the fishers [bitten] [point] not [ ] & [ ] [ ] [sunset] or [sinner] Down the brook to seek a [dinner] While [spirt] & food may both be found [Where] wheat & fruit bedeck the ground
