Saturday, May 9, 1896 Went to city. Had Judge Myrick & Prof Armes to lunch. Had long talk in on club affairs Went to exhibition of paintings - very good Cold breezy day Sunday 10 Fine clear calm morning. Cloudy & cool at noon. Light rain evening Monday 11 Dark & rainy this morning, cleared about 9 A.M. Cool this evening Sent Sargent Gibbons Sequoia statement also copied Bunnells from his book “Discovery of Yosemite.” Tuesday, May 12, 1896 Dry cool windy. Had visit from Mr Earle Mr Wilbur a pleasant intelligent gentleman a minister & mountaineer. Wrote to Magee, George, Bradley & Mansfield. Wednesday 13 Warmer bright & clear Wrote Johnson vegetation starting again after long benumbing cold. Began cutting hay. Thursday 14 Fine, warmer. Went to dentist. Tooth extracted without pain by injecting cocaine into the gums.
