Clear & balmy. Grass growing fast & the oaks getting their leaves. Nearly all now show yellow, even the latest

Charming day.
X Went to Martinez to release mortgage on Brill place which is sold to Mr Thompson, a Dane. We have received our money & so closes our relations with the unfortunate Brills.

Dense black fog from the sea very rare. Cool & half sunny most of midday - gentle rain this evening commencing at sunset.
X Wrote to E Mc Allister sending John Swetts name as Sierra Club member. To Mr Smith of Valona about waterworks. Judge Myrick about coming on visit & to Lee Car Co [Company] about demand for money.

Fine warm day grass and wings growing fresh & all the world of life awake & hopeful.
X Went to the Barber hills with Brown to finish survey of 20 acre plot purchased by F Braun. Gave notice that we would grant a week to make first payment of 333 1/3 dollars, at $50 per acre. The price to be increased after this time expires

Dark slightly dripping day.
X Went to city where I met Mrs & Miss Crow at Keiths Studio & talk pictures & memories of Sierra excursion
