May 30, 1891. Set out from Moon Mills 9 A.M. Alt Mills 5000; alt ridge above mills 6000. Only one sequoia which was cut by mill, 12 ft dia, only one in ravine above mill. They are cutting large quantities of sequoia from ridge more to left as ascend; trees from 6 to 12 ft dia drag down shute some fine sequoia in ravine just ahead of ridge 1-1/2 m above mill, one grand old dead giant. Sugar p ab here, and this is the N boundary of the Gen Grant Park. From here E enter park, still ascending for a mile, then down into hollow
