11 tonight, “It is [dead] Saw bergs on edge of gl [glacier] a mile back from here seem to have been left by [driving] of [pol] in sunken hollow. A circling [rim] of drift wood back 20 rods on the gl [glacier] marks [edge] of lake [lit] shore where bergs are Saw grouse marmots yesterday on mtn [mountain]

It is now half past ten & getting dusk, as I sit by my fire a [strange] bird is calling & complaining. A stream is rushing into a well on the gl [glacier] on the edge of wh [which] I [am] camped for fear of falling stones from the very steep mtn [mountain] must go to bed ever [stony] [feeling]
