27 Mir Alpine [glow] tinting the summits & the [SLS] Not wind enough to stir pine needles [sketch of mountain ridge] 28 Kalmia in flr [flower] Alt [altitude] 10 to 11 flr [flowers] on [purp] pedicels 1 in. long 3 or 4 or 1 or 2 in[inch] head Flrs [flowers] 3/8 dia light pink Calyx 1/8 dull purp on ends. Seldom rise more than 2 or 3 in. Vaccinium ½ in. high 20 flowers per sq inch few sedges & tufts of Bry Bees stand on head to get their honey No pink [ruby] like these bells before opening Gradually change to pale pink
