THE SECRETARY OF THE INTERIORWASHINGTONSeptember 6, 1912.Dear Sir:The City of San Francisco has now filed with the Board of Army Engineers various reports called for by that Board in connection with the Hetch Hetchy reservoir permit. I am sending you, under separate cover, a copy of the printed report and statement of the City, outlining the project and presenting the general case upon which the City relies. The other reports are of a more technical engineering character and a copy of each such report has been filed with the Department of the Interior in Washington and with the Board of Army Engineers at the United States Customs House, San Francisco, where these reports are available for your examination. They relate to the availability of other sources of water supply for the City of San Francisco and the other matters mentioned in the previous letters of this Department to you. The Board of Army Engineers is now on the ground making a careful examination in the light of the ease as thus made on behalf of the City. There has been considerable delay on the part of the City in filing the printed statement which is now being sent to you and on this account the Secretary of the Interior has decided that the time within which Counter-suggestions shall be filed06323
