I gave them money to buy candy & told them to be sure to eat it all & they marched down town right merrilly.Helen, Marys girl is just about Your age, Helen & is very bright You would both like her also. She is a [great?] fence & post climber, for there are no trees to climb in Kearney. I hope you are not neglecting your lessons nor the garden. & that you are careful in carrying candles. I hope to write you another letter soon when I am not so dull as now The cats no doubt are well - Have you got a dog yet?Ever Your fatherJohn Muir
