Martinez, June 22, 1910-Dear Mrs Hooker & MarianMy dearest best loved sister died this afternoon - - -All her children were with her Her last days were in a sleep nigh to death without sign of a moment of consciousness. Glad I was with her to cheer and soothe and comfort while yet she knew me & fondly clung to me. And we all rejoice she is at rest in the Better Land free from pain and care and frail body weakness after a long hard yet blessed life. but oh friends - the last love glance - last quivering embrace on the edge of the dark. You know for you are acquainted with death grip.Affectionately, John Muir
