Dear Mr. Johnson: Martinez, Dec. 24, 1908 Well done & doing for you. Let us keep hammering the Vandals & we will beat them yet. Hon. S. C. Smith, Hon. W. F. Englebright, & Hon. Frank Mondell (Chairman of Committee on Public Lands), House of Representatives, are all with us I believe. It seems incredible that so barbarous a step backward as the destruction of a Yosemite Valley could possible be taken by Congress, or that such a question could game a hearing anywhere in Civilization-Good luck & good yearEver faithfully your friend John MuirMartinez, Dec. 1, 1908
