I have just returned from a two weeks trip to Hetch Hetchy & adjacent region; hence the delay in replying to your fine big generous letters. I got Keith our great artist to go with me & he was charmed with the Valley made 38 sketches & said over & over again that in its lovely picturesque park floor it far surpassed even Yosemite. It was too bad I could not have you on this trip; but your editorial so much needed would not have been got off as promptly & the Valley will wait for you. I have heard nothing from Washington beyond the letters I showed you & acknowledgements of receipt of others I sent on. Now the President has got home I may hear how the battle goes.
