Martinez, Apr. 25, 1898My Dear Johnson.I have just learned that my Senate has passed an amendment The Sundry Civil Bill abolishing the Cleveland Forest Reservations & that the matter is now in the hands of a Committee of the House. Thieves & pirates of the silent forests are now favored by the darkness of the Cuban War Clouds but I feel sure that you are awake & doing all that mortal can do on the side of the right.
