Adamana, Ariz. July 13, 1906 Mr. Wm. Newton Omaha, Neb. My dear sir, I am the John Muir you saw at Prairie du Chien when you were a small boy in the auld lang syne. I remember your father and mother with pleasure and have their photographs at home in California. The only person from the company of those old days I have oftentimes seen is Mrs. Wilson (Emily Pelton). I am studying the petrified forests hereabouts but hope to be at home in a few days, and will be glad to see you when you come West and am with pleasant memories
