Indpls Last evening of [illegible]Dear brother DanielI thank you for the ferns and for Ponted[illegible] cordata- that plant with the [illegible] of blue flowers, I am glad you sent it because although I had tried to analyze it a great many times long ago I was per- voked to "try again." and as my brains seem to grow I made its acquaintance without much trouble, I have a specimen of it in Wis & one here which I suppose you remember we found at the end of Lake Ontario, & when I was trying to analyze it you lay down in the hot sand & hot sun in profound sleep
