December 13, 1901.R. W. GILDER, EDITOR.R. U. JOHNSON,ASSOCIATE EDITOR.C. C. BUEL,ASSISTANT EDITOR.My dear Muir:I have forgotten whether I asked you in any of my recent letters Aether you were likely to be able to go down to the Colorado canon this winter before writing the article. I think I told you that Maxfield Parrish, whose drawings in the December number you have no doubt seen, is delighted with his visit to the canon, and I think you and he together would make an ideal team.I am very sorry to hear that Clarence King is seriously ill in Phoenix, Arizona, I believe with tuberculosls. As to the Robinson material, we are embarrassed by not knowing how to adjust it with your text. Of course we do not want to cover ground already covered by us. At the same time we should be glad to have anything of a very novel character, though perhaps we could not use a great deal.I am asking him to send me some of the photographs that we may know what we are doing. The publishers are very glad you are turn-ing your attention to the Yosemite book, toward which they have the most cordial inclination. With the compliments of the season to all yourfamily,Faithfully yours,[illegible][02826]
