01421Martinez April 29th 1890Dear Brother Dave,How have you come through the winter - Hae you & your family escaped the influenza, I have not heard a word from you all the winter. Most of us have been affected more or less but we are now well & the weather begins to be worthy of California once more. What do you hear of John Reid. I asked him to come out here but of course he finds it hard to leave the land & begin a new business at his time of life. I had a letter from Maggie a day or two ago. She is of course greatly discouraged, & is also pinched for want of money at times. Write to her often & enclose a few dollars now & then. This will go far to cheer her up. Do you hear from Dan. He never write to me & I can get none of the money he owes. With love to all J.M.
